We Survived Our First Alaska Winter Aboard. Here’s What We Learned

After our first winter living aboard S/V Alaskan Gypsy through an Alaska winter, we learned a few things. 😅 Last year we launched out of the shipyard in November and went almost immediately into cold, snow, short days and a lot of figuring things out as we went. This year, we actually have a little time to prepare. With summer winding down and the kids back at school, we're turning our attention toward winter aboard Gypsy: improving our heat, power and anchoring systems, getting better prepared for cold-weather dinghy travel, stocking the boat, hunting, and figuring out where in Southeast Alaska we might spend the darker months. We haven't done one of these casual life updates in a while, so come along as we leave Gypsy at anchor near Juneau, escape some ridiculous boat wakes, find a beach, and talk about what we learned from winter #1 and what we're changing for winter #2. Thanks for coming along with us. We're grateful you're here. Scott & Audrey S/V Alaskan Gypsy
