We Bought the Boat We Reviewed! Meet Our Morgan 384
#boatfoolssailing #morgan384 #classicsailboats We Bought the Boat We Reviewed! Meet Our Morgan 384. If you want to see the full tour of this boat, watch this: https://youtu.be/RLJJ8Ea3gd8 Guess what? We did it again. Canadian Ken, Green Mountain Josh, and I just bought a second sailboat — a 1986 Morgan 384… the very same boat we profiled back in August of 2024. Back then, we were this close to making an offer, but she sold FAST. No surprise — the Morgan 384 is basically a leveled-up version of our beloved 1980 Morgan 382: • high-aspect ratio rig • larger rudder • shorter boom • upgraded traveler • all opening ports • gimbaling oven • electric windlass • and a nearly new Beta Marine diesel In other words: all the upgrades we dreamed of for our 382… already done. Chapters: 00:00 Opener - Cool sailing scene on our Morgan 382, plus The BoatFools Song! 00:13 Intro to the Episode - What Have We Done? 00:47 The Backstory of the Morgan 384 We Profiled & Kismet 03:54 The Pros and Cons of the Morgan 384 vs the Morgan 382 09:45 Some Survey Fixes 10:43 The Key Selling Point? :) 12:00 Should We Rename The Boat? 12:34 Final Thoughts! Then fate stepped in. The buyer who snagged the 384? He became a friend of ours over the summer of 2025. And when he decided to move up to a Bristol 41.1, opportunity knocked — loudly. Through some creative (read: owner) financing and a plan to charter out our Morgan 382 to help cover the costs, the deal came together. So what’s better than owning one classic Morgan sailboat? Owning TWO of them. Are we nuts? Probably. Are we excited? Absolutely. In this episode we share: • Why the Morgan 384 is such a special bluewater cruiser • What upgrades sold us instantly • How the deal came together • Our crazy-but-fun plan to keep both Morgans afloat (more on this in a future episode) If you love classic cruisers, Morgans, boat buying stories, or just watching three fools get in way over their heads (again), you’re in the right place.
