In this episode Canadian Ken and I explore one of my all-time favorite sailboats. The Allied Seabreeze is a true classic and this one is no exception. She is the "bronze" edition, which means she has a bronze centerboard which draws 7 feet when down, and less than 4 feet when up - great for coastal cruising either up here in Maine, in the Mid-Atlantic, or the the Bahamas and beyond. And this Seabreeze has only been owned by three families over her 58 years! Most recently she has been owned by an engineer who has updated her over the past 17 years. A full list of her updates is below. Designed by MacLear & Harris, who did a stint with Sparkman & Stephens, she has all the grace and beauty of the venerable Hinckley Pilot 35 - which was designed by Sparkman & Stephens. We put a side-by-side of their interiors in this video and the resemblance is uncanny. Their SailboatData numbers are also very similar. Allied Boat Company created the first fiberglass sailboat to circumnavigate the globe in the Seawind 30-foot ketch. The Seabreeze was their second boat. Heavily built, and built to go anywhere, she truly is a timeless classic that will bring years of enjoyment to her next owner. Please contact Kurt [SOLD 11/19/2024!] Sorry! Also, please note that Canadian Ken and I have no financial interest in this sailboat.
