The week that started with tears ends up on a sunny note

This week definitely wasn’t part of the plan. What was meant to be a quick stop in Guernsey turned into an unexpected haul out after we discovered my rig had been installed incorrectly. While the boat was out of the water, we found a few more issues, including a crack around the keel (thankfully only cosmetic), a leaking valve, and several rigging problems that needed immediate attention. The good news? The Hydrovane is now installed, the keel has been checked and resealed, the leaking valve is fixed, and we’re making great progress on rebuilding the rig properly. It wasn’t the week I expected, but it might just have been the week that saved my race.
