The Swedish Ship Götheborg Making linseed oil putty

We traditionally use pitch to seal the seams we've caulked on the ship. However, there is one exception where we don't use pitch to seal the seams, but instead use linseed oil putty. And that's in the hull of the ship. Pitch is our top choice when compared to linseed oil putty, due to it's durability and waterproofness. So, the reason why we use linseed oil putty on the hull is purely aesthetic. If we use pitch, it will be difficult to paint it without black stripes being visible and that is something we don't want. In this video you can see how we make our own linseed oil putty.
