The Gate Wasn’t Locked… Exploring Bedruthan Steps Beach
Bedruthan Steps, one of Cornwall’s most dramatic coastlines, has had its beach access closed for years — but in this video, Colin discovers the steps for himself. The National Trust officially closed access to the beach due to safety concerns, saying the steps and handrails were unsafe. But when Colin reached the gate, it wasn’t locked at all. Carefully walking down, he found the 120 stone steps still intact, although the handrail has rusted away in most places. Join us as we explore this legendary beach from a rare perspective. Should Bedruthan Steps remain closed, or could careful visitors still enjoy this hidden treasure? This video documents our experience but does not encourage or recommend others to attempt it. Please respect closures and follow National Trust safety advice.
