The antifouling project 3/6 - keel rust treatment and 4 coats of epoxy primer
The keel is treated with rust converter and is ready for the first diluted coat of epoxy primer. I had a left over bucket of Hempels Light primer so I start with a single coat of that. Then I apply a coat of gelcoat to the fiberglass at the bow thruster hole and then start to apply the first coat of primer all over the bottom. After the first coat of primer I apply some Sikaflex 291i between the keel and the hull to prevent water from coming in to the keel bolts. The first two primer coats is applyed with a long shaggy paint roller but I find out that the cheaper and more fine paint rollers is the way to go. And then I spot a leak.
