SYDNEY 36CR - PHILOSOPHER

** NOW SOLD ** Built by Sydney Yachts in 2007, ‘Philosopher’ is a Sydney 36CR. This Murray Burns and Dovell design is highly regarded as one of the best models to come out of the Sydney Yachts factory and in Philosopher, we have undoubtedly the best Sydney 36CR in Australia. Philosopher was originally built and tailored for renowned local sailor Peter Sorenson and was highly optimised to further improve on a design that was already revered for their outstanding performance. Along with other enhancements, she received a bigger fore-triangle, larger headsails, a sugar scoop to increase her waterline length when healing and a Fred Barret designed carbon bow sprit, all of which contributed to significant performance gains both upwind and downwind. Her results speak for themselves….. IRC Australian overall champion 2008, IRC Divisional Champion 2011, 2018 and 2019, 1st in division on IRC, ORCI and Corinthian in the 2019 Sydney to Hobart and most recently, 1st IRC Two Handed division, 1st IRC division 2 in the 2023 Sydney to Gold Coast Race, and 1st IRC Two Handed division in the 2023 Bird Island….. and the list of podiums goes on. Her sail wardrobe is simply too extensive to list here, a number of which were new in 2023 and her electronics package is second to none. She is powered by a 28hp Yanmar diesel engine with a sail drive and has a two blade Gori prop.
