Storm Damaged Boats Smashed & Grounded in Trinidad - As It Happened 13/08/2024

This rarely occurs and mainly causes issues in the public anchorage. It was caused by a sucking weather system as Tropical Storm Ernesto (predicted to become Hurricane Ernesto) barrelled through the Caribbean far north of Trinidad, bringing wind up from South America across the Gulf of Paria. With the anchorage being far more exposed in that direction, conditions deteriorated, exacerbated by waves bouncing off the boats and shores. Elsewhere on the island there was flooding, with some roads becoming impassable and rivers turning into rapids.
