With just 72 hours left on our South African visas, we thought paperwork would be the hardest part of our week. We were wrong. This episode follows our last few days in Knysna as we race to sort a visa extension before our time runs out — including a wrong turn, an unexpected phone call, and the very real possibility of being forced to leave South Africa, and Happy Days, behind. Once we're finally free to breathe, we take our family and a car loaded with surfboards east to Jeffreys Bay for some of the best surf we've found on this coast — and an encounter none of us saw coming. If you've ever wondered what cruising life actually looks like between the beautiful anchorages — visa runs, immigration offices, and all — this one's for you. ⛵ Follow our full circumnavigation aboard Happy Days I, our 2012 Leopard 46 catamaran, as we sail from South Africa toward the Atlantic and on to French Polynesia. 📍 Featured in this episode: Knysna, George, and Jeffreys Bay, South Africa 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 We're a family of six living aboard full-time — homeschooling, surfing, and building a life on the water while we sail around the world. 💬 Have you ever had a close call with visas or paperwork while travelling? Let us know in the comments — we'd love to hear we're not the only ones who've cut it close. 🧡 Want more behind-the-scenes?
