Hi and welcome aboard @SailingAstridTheWombat We are Gav and Shezz and two and a half years ago we bought our Beneteau Oceanis 430 sailboat with absolutely no sailing experience and jumped straight into the deep end of liveaboard sailing. Our very first passage was just over 700 nautical miles, launching us headfirst into the world of bluewater cruising, learning to sail, and real life at sea. Since that moment, we’ve been fully immersed in boat life, documenting the journey of turning a production cruising sailboat into a capable, self-sufficient home for full-time liveaboard life. From major sailboat upgrades and off-grid power systems to everyday maintenance and skills building, we have been learning what it truly takes to own, sail, and live on a boat while preparing to sail around the world. We have now left the dock and our adventure has begun so hit subscribe to come along on the journey of a lifetime. If you’re into sailing adventures, beginner sailing, sailboat ownership, cruising lifestyle, and traveling the world by sailboat, our journey is all about real-time learning, ocean freedom, and realising our dream of world cruising under sail...Let's go! Not every day of liveaboard sailing is calm seas and perfect sunsets. In this episode, we face an uncomfortable passage along Australia's spectacular east coast, battling rolling seas and the reality of seasickness while sailing. Life at sea isn't always glamorous, but the incredible destinations waiting at the end of a challenging passage make every nautical mile worthwhile. Join us aboard Astrid the Wombat as we continue our dream of sailing around the world, sharing the real highs and lows of the liveaboard cruising lifestyle. From planning our passage and navigating changing conditions to finally dropping anchor in one of the most breathtaking remote anchorages we've ever visited, this episode captures the adventure, challenge, and reward of life under sail. If you've ever wondered what it's really like to live on a sailboat, deal with rough weather, overcome seasickness, or explore hidden anchorages only accessible by boat, this video is for you. Whether you're an experienced cruiser, a beginner sailor dreaming of buying your first yacht, or simply someone who loves travel and adventure, we hope this episode inspires you to chase your own sailing dreams. On this channel we document our journey of full-time liveaboard sailing, exploring Australia's coastline before setting sail around the world. We share honest sailing adventures, boat life, anchoring tips, passage making, remote islands, marine wildlife, and everything that comes with living aboard a cruising sailboat. If you enjoy videos about sailing Australia, liveaboard life, cruising on a yacht, sailing adventures, sailing couples, offshore sailing, boat life, sailboat living, sailing travel, sailing destinations, cruising the Whitsundays, remote anchorages, passage making, sailing vlogs, and sailing around the world, you're in the right place.
