Sailing Saoirse ⛵️ Salvation Islands - Iles Royale 🏝

The Salvation Islands are some of the most beautiful islands we have ever explored! The islands are covered in green trees, monkeys, birds and TONS of history. In this weeks video we take you through Iles Royale. The salvation islands / lles Du salut are made up of three islands off of the coast of French Guiana. There is Iles Royale, Devils and St Joseph’s. There are buildings on the islands that date back to the 1800’s. The infrastructure on the islands are well maintained and marked with great signs that tell you about the history of all the interesting ruins, bays and graveyards. There is some dark history behind the islands as they were penal colonies back in the day and even had a stint as a leper colony. Incredible to think of the hardship and suffering all set in the most magnificent of surroundings.
