Sailing Crash Gybe

THATS GOT TO HURT ! The Skipper on GTR forgot to duck, lucky for him he got back up to race another day. Gybing a boat can be one of the most dangerous manoeuvres you can make due to the amount of distance the boom needs to travel. In this case the skipper got caught up in the runners which were the wrong side of the boom. Sailing fails are OK as long as you learn from your mistakes and put plans in place to avoid them happening again. I hope the racers who are watching this sailing video learn what not to do. The crash gybe could have been a lot worse, the skipper was lucky he could stand up and keep going after the crashing into the leeward side of the boat.
