S1 E21 Last sail on Arta EVER!!! And also the worst.. ЁЯШй and mostly at night ЁЯШБ (Dominican Republic)
Leg details: Grand Turk, TCI to Luperon, DR Total distance: 100nm Total time: 18 hours Average speed: 5.5 knots Notes: I steered the entire time There is a good bit of footage during the night when you canтАЩt see anything.. maybe just listen as a podcast till the sun comes up. But I was so bored sitting at the helm for 18 hours and through the night. I just decided to pretend like I was talking to you, so I started recording every once in a while through the last sail of the season. In case youтАЩre wondering what itтАЩs like to drive for this long, hereтАЩs a 20-minute taste of a difficult passage from TC to the DR. I entered "Welcome to my sh*t show.. solo sailing to remote islands" in the Cruiser's Awards Competition for "Best YT Episode of 2023" If you think that's great, please vote for me! Thank you for your continued support ЁЯШГ https://zealous.co/youngcruisersassociation/opportunity/Best-YouTube-Episode-23/results/submissions/ I originally entered for emerging YT but wanted to enter the sh*t show episode because it seemed like it was a good hit. Here's link for the emerging YT if you want to vote for that one too though. https://zealous.co/youngcruisersassociation/opportunity/Best-Emerging-YouTube-Channel-23/results/submissions Coming up is a tour of Arta, and then I delve into new boat projects. If you want to keep current, you can become a patron, which starts at $5/month and includes YT video releases as I create them, weekly video updates, weekly blog, and monthly live chat. Thanks to everybody who has been or is currently a patron, or has donated or bought off my wishlist. IтАЩm grateful for and really need your support as I tackle these boat projects. Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sailingartha (I just released three YT videos on Patreon, scheduled for release on YT in late Oct/early Nov: haul-out, rudder removal, rudder prep) Light items wish list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8WR5UAN7O1II/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1 Heavy items wish list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2OGTPRKAM5B65?ref_=wl_share At this point, IтАЩve got $3,780 towards getting the new boat officially in my name. The price tag for the Bristol Channel Cutter is $25,000 which means IтАЩm still trying to front $21,220. IтАЩve got boat projects well underway (itтАЩs on the hard, diesel tank is getting replaced, rudder is off and ready for repairs, hull is scheduled to be sanded to the fiberglass, and I just sanded the port topsides!). If youтАЩd like to help, please send a YT super thanks, donate to the GoFundMe that my friend MT set up, send a donation on PayPal, or buy some of my books or Sailing Artha merchandise (I have updated the page - there were some problems). Thank you all for your support.
