Reality of Sailing It's Not Always Rainbows and Dolphins 51 Beau and Brandy Sailing In this episode, we finally get a weather window to leave Abacos and sail overnight to Eleuthera. This is our very first overnight sail. We take turns on sleeping and helming. We pretty much have it down to when you are sleepy wake the other person up to take the helm. On the sail down, the wind dies and turns our sail into a much longer sail than we planned. Also once we turn around the tip of Eleuthera, with the winds changing, we had either the option to tack late into the night to get to our planned anchorage or stay on one tack to the MOST PROTECTED anchorage in all of Eleuthera, Hatchet Bay. At this point we are helming in the cold rain and a nice calm anchorage was exactly something we were grateful to see listed on the charts. Plan to not have a plan has become our saying.
