Preparing for emergency steering

Our hydraulic steering broke down. When we fixed it, we made it better. In this video you can see how we have made a by pass valve for the hydraulic oil, so we can use the emergency tiller. We also changed the hydraulic pump on one of the two steering wheels that the Nauticat motorsailers have. In this case the boat is a Nauticat 38, and the system it made quite similar on other Nauticats and other boats with two position hydraulic steering. Another important step in our boat restoration! This video covers boat maintenance and how to use improve the boat safety. Learn how we tackled this part of the restoration process. A great shout out to Grenaa Hydraulic in Denmark, who fixed this on short notice. Thanks a lot. Chapters: 0:00 Intro.
