Nuku Hiva or Jurassic Park?

Nuku Hiva is an amazing place to visit. The typical route people sail after transiting the Panama Canal is to the Galapagos and then on to The Marquesas Islands which is where Nuku Hiva is. After sailing in the Caribbean and Panama where crime is pretty common, Nuku Hiva was like a breath of fresh air. You don't need to lock your dinghy up every time you go ashore and the locals are very friendly too and made us feel welcome. Nuku Hiva is 339Km2 and in 2017 the population was just under 3000 people. There is a yacht Services in the harbour where you can buy Sim Cards as well as have your gas filled. There are a couple of shops and a fruit and veg market where you should be able to find everything you need though the prices are high. If you are heading this way from Panama, stock up with as much as you can and you will save a lot of money. There are lots of amazing hikes in the area and they are well worth doing. Daniels bay has one of the best which takes you up to the waterfall. Although you pay $10 per adult to do the hike, you are given so much fruit and veg at the end you feel like you should pay more.
