Anchored in the middle of the Flores Sea, Taka Bonerate National Park

After a magical overnight sail from Wangi Wangi to Taka Bonerate National Park, we arrive at a breathtaking reef atoll in the middle of nowhere. With crystal-clear turquoise water, endless reefs, and some of the most spectacular sunsets we've ever seen, it's the perfect place to slow down and soak up paradise. But our peaceful anchorage takes an unexpected turn when small fishing boats suddenly appear out of nowhere. Moments later, we hear a series of huge explosions that sound like dynamite fishing! It was an incredibly unsettling experience, but thankfully the fishermen were far enough away that we were never in danger—it certainly got our hearts racing though.
