Norwegian girl sails solo to France - day 9

Day 9 at sea. 🌊 Today has been a calmer day, and the wind is supposed to die completely later, so I’ve been taking the chance to get some things done onboard. Cooked some food for the next days and finally started tackling the mess inside the boat… which I really don’t enjoy doing, but at some point it simply has to happen. One thing that has made life a lot easier out here is the salt water pump I installed in the sink. I use seawater to wash the dishes and only rinse the stainless steel utensils with fresh water afterwards. Small things like that make a huge difference when you live on a boat for weeks. Later in the day I noticed the autopilot wasn’t behaving properly. Since I’m getting closer to France now, I would very much like the boat to keep going in a straight line without me having to hand steer all the way there. So… out came the drill. I drilled a hole and added a pin to try to stabilize the handle a bit more and improve the steering. Very scientific boat engineering happening out here. Overall though, it’s been a really good day.
