Nautitech 44 Open Catana Yard: Av. Capitaine Delestrain, 66140 Canet-en-Roussillon, France Nautitech Yard: 5 Rue Hubert Pennevert, 17300 Rochefort, France Wine: Château Lafite Rothschild 33250 PAUILLAC FRANCE Participate in the Dave Score: https://forms.office.com/r/JFhQmX3c7b Welcome back to Naval Gazing at Camp David. This week’s guest yacht is a brand that was launched in 1994 by Dufour Yachts Group, who later sold the brand in 2002 to Bruno Voisard. From 2004 to 2006, the company moved its production to La Rochelle. In 2008, they moved production inland to Rochefort. In 2011, working with Marc Lombard, they launched the first of the current range. The company was purchased by Bavaria Yachts in 2014 who invested in the production facilities, and in 2018, the brand, along with Bavaria who had run into financial difficulties, was purchased by Capital Management Partners, a private equity firm. We are, of course, talking about Nautitech and their 44 Open! Today we are going to 1. Review its specifications, pricing and layout against three similar new vessels. 2. Do a full tour asking, “What would Sylvia say?” 3. Naval Gaze at an innovation and/or adjustment that might make life aboard easier. 4. Have a look at the used market for 3-5 year old comparables 5. And finally give it a “Dave Score” and compare the result with all our previously reviewed yachts. Stating from our high vantage over Vancouver British Columbia, we fly across the Atlantic and across the continent to the home of last week’s yacht, the Catana Ocean Class 50 in Roussillon. From here we bounce over to the Atlantic coast of France and the Ship Yards of Nautitech in Rochefort. For our wine pairing this week we fly inland to the famous Château Lafite Rothschild PAUILLAC where we discover Barons De Rothschild Les Légendes R Pauillac 2017. A major appellation in the Médoc, Pauillac benefits from an exceptional terroir characterized by gravelly hilltops on a clay subsoil which ensures natural drainage and encourages the vines to develop deep roots: these are the perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. Légende R Pauillac is made from grapes grown in Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)’s own vineyards and, once again, the wines are made with the same attention to detail as for the Grand Vin. Produced from the properties’ younger vines, these are classic , good quality wines. Their structure is less concentrated than their prestigious elders, allowing them to age more quickly, and after just a few months in the bottle, they offer an original, unique style, with the fullness and complexity for which the appellation is renowned. Innovation Corner • Nautitech 44 Open Web page: https://www.nautitechcatamarans.com/en/catamarans/44-open.html • 15" Undercounter Trash Compactor https://www.whirlpool.com/kitchen/dishwasher-and-cleaning/compactors/p.15-undercounter-trash-compactor.tu950qpxs.html o This compactor offers a sleek, fully-integrated look while helping you save time and energy by reducing your trash volume and trips to the curb by up to 75%. o Electronic Touch Controls - Streamlined controls are as simple to use as they are to clean. o Touch-Toe™ Drawer Opener - No free hands? No problem! Open the Whirlpool® compactor with the convenient Touch-Toe™ drawer opener. o Automatic Anti-Jam - If the door is opened during operation, the compression ram automatically reverses to prevent jamming. o You could compact two weeks' worth of garbage into one 30-lb.bag. There are bag caddies that fit the bags so that you can easily move the compacted bag from the trash compactor to the dingy. o The compactors have filters and deodorizing holders inside the compactor. This will eliminate the smell that can be caused from decomposing foods. Most of the deodorizers spray when the compactor door is closed, which keeps the inside fresh smelling instead of having trash cans sit around the house smelling of anything decomposing inside. o Reduced Fire hazard Comparison: https://1drv.ms/p/s!Aj8F6UDGbsSkmelVBHDb2jzbFYoqrA Wine: https://www.lafite.com/en/chateau-lafite-rothschild/ Sail away Nautitech Open 44 ~ $810,000 USD Art Stop: Claude Joseph Vernet. Born 14 August 1714. Avignon, France -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude-Joseph_Vernet Vernet was born in Avignon. When only fourteen years of age he aided his father, Antoine Vernet (1689–1753),[1] a skilled decorative painter, in the most important parts of his work. The panels of sedan chairs, however, could not satisfy his ambition, and Vernet started for Rome. The sight of the whales at Marseilles and his voyage thence to Civitavecchia (Papal States' main port on the Tyrrhenian Sea) made a deep impression on him, and immediately after his arrival he entered the studios of whale painter Bernardino Fergioni[2] and marine landscapist Adrien Manglard.
