Middle Percy Island Sailing, Stories and the Legendary A Frame (Ep.22) | Sailing ARGO

We’d been wanting to visit Middle Percy Island for years - Jason to return, and Kym to have her first visit - and it didn’t disappoint. This remote Coral Sea gem is a favourite among cruising yachties, and for good reason. Anchored at West Bay, we stepped ashore to visit the legendary A-frame hut, where boaties from around the world leave their mark and share stories over drinks and wood-fired pizzas. Built in 1979, this rustic meeting place is packed with history and the spirit of camaraderie. We also tackled the one-hour hike up to the old Homestead to learn about the island’s unusual past, meet the local caretaker, and soak in the views. Another unique part of Percy life? The Percy Island Yacht Club. Formed to help with the island’s upkeep, it’s run by cruisers for cruisers, keeping this special place open for all who follow.
