Maiden Voyage

After making my purchase, I rented a slip at Harbortown Marina and spent a few weeks making repairs and becoming familiar with every detail of Sunburst. I wanted to make sure everything was in good working order before taking it out on such a long trip by myself. So, after stocking up with supplies and waiting for good weather, I finally launched, heading towards Kemah, Texas. BTW: I had never piloted a vessel or had even been on a sailboat before. So I did a quick study on navigational rules while still at the dock. I also used the engine mostly on this first trip but had a wonderful time sailing for a couple of days and motor sailing with just the head sail at other times. There is nothing like letting the wind push you across the open water in beautiful weather. I just got hooked to the sea.
