Lopud Island
Lopud is the middle island of the 3 islands which are known as the Elaphiti Islands. This archipelago is situated about 5 kilometers in front of the coast of Dubrovnik. Lopud is famous for it's sandy beaches. When we flew with the drone over Lopud, you could clearly see the large long stretch of beaches in the bay. It was very quiet on the island, in the summer months Lopud has about 400 inhabitants, in the winter (October to April) many residents stay in Dubrovnik. The 15th and 16th centuries were the Golden Age for this island. Thanks to the prospering shipping industry, agriculture (olive groves) and sea trade (even with Americas!).
