We arrived to the Strait of Gibraltar. As we were exploring La Linea (Spain), just next to the British border we spotted this wonderful park. It’s huge trees reminded us of a beautiful complex mouvement in gymnastics, that we love so much: Kipping Ring Muscle-ups. The sensation of freedom that you have swinging on the rings is unforgettable. We so decided to do a well known CrossFit® workout: 30 muscle-ups for time (meaning that you have to perform them as fast as possible with or without a time cap). Why CrossFit®? We are practicing CrossFit® since almost 10 years, and we can say that it actually changed our lives, and that we feel healthier than before, that’s why. Functional mouvements prepare you for a functional life and add some balanced diet to that, you are avoiding chronic disease. If you are wondering how muscle-ups get to be a « functional mouvement », well think about the last time you had to get out of the water onto your sailboat without a ladder, or you forgot your keys and had to jump over the fence. This mouvement requires equal parts strength and skill. Sailing around the world is extremely rich in experiences and the in variety of places we have the chance to train at, but we don’t get the opportunity to practice ring muscle-ups very often.
