This is episode fourteen of an ongoing series following the construction of a wooden International 2.4 metre class sailboat. The design is called the Stradivari Mk IV by Hasse Malmsten. The biggest issue I am encountering on this planking is that du to the complex shape, each plank requires a different approach. I don’t seem to be benefitting from repetition in which I can try different tricks to find the best practice. One hard lesson I can share is that stainless steel staples were the wrong choice. I was using them in the event that I lost a leg into the structure. Problem was, every staple I extracted would lose a leg. Kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. That said, I spent way too much time digging out broken-off staple legs which ironically was the one repetitious task that taught me the best way to dig out broken-off staple legs. I suppose that’s progress.
