Installing USB Sockets in a 24v/12v Sailboat - Replacing Bedside Lamps with USB Plugged Devices

The two USB sockets we had on the boat were woefully inadequate to cope with charging our phones, tablets, kindles, GoPro's, fans and other devises that accompany a modern, mobile lifestyle and it was a battle at the nav station to charge them all. So the only solution was to install more - may more - outlets for our USB devises. But instead of running more wires through already congested conduits, I replaced the 70's style 24v bedside lights with car 24v USB plugs and here's the maintenance blog how we did it!
