Hubert Lemonnier, Race Manager Duty Officer, is a key part of the race management team of the Vendée Globe. Hubert's role is very similar to an air traffic controller - except instead of managing planes in the sky, he and his team manage all of the sailors and boats. During the race, Hubert checks in with sailors every day to ensure their safety. In this second Harken interview leading up to the 2020 race, we ask Hubert about first-time Vendée sailors, his daily discussions with skippers, the race start, and the spectacle of the race village (and how it's been impacted by COVID-19).
