Have you ever wonder what is under the deck of your boat? Have you every wonder what it takes to replace the Shaft Strut on your boat? This is the first of three videos where we show you the inner areas of Reverie, our 1985 Pearson 34 sailboat. As part of our sailboat restoration project we had to replace the shaft strut which was significantly damaged by low level current. This made it brittle and creates a safety risk for us while sailing. So we had a new shaft strut build by General Propeller and are now taking the fist set of steps to make the replacement and installation of our new shaft strut. We are looking at the Shaft Strut area, what is in there and what we have to do clean in order to get ready to re-install our new Shaft Strut, Shaft, Shaft Seal and Shaft Coupler.
