After 20 days at sea, we finally crossed the Atlantic Ocean and made landfall in Martinique, in the Caribbean. This was our first time reaching the New World on our sailboat Zoé. We spent a few weeks exploring the island, meeting new people, and experiencing a unique mix of cultures. Martinique is an overseas region of France and part of the European Union, which creates a fascinating contrast - European lifestyle in the heart of the Caribbean. For us, coming from Europe, this duality felt surreal. Tropical nature, warm ocean, palm trees… combined with familiar infrastructure and everyday life.
