Out of nowhere, a pod of pilot whales appeared alongside our boat, turning a peaceful sail into an unforgettable wildlife encounter 🐋✨ These incredible creatures are actually the most common whales in the Canary Islands—but this was our very first time seeing them up close! Arriving in San Sebastián de La Gomera, we quickly realized we were following in the historic footsteps of Christopher Columbus. This charming harbor town was the final European stop before his legendary 1492 voyage across the Atlantic. We explored key landmarks connected to Columbus’ journey, including: The historic Boater’s Walk The iconic “Faceless Admiral” bust of Columbus The beautiful Iglesia de la Asunción, where he is believed to have prayed before setting sail As if that wasn’t enough, our Norwegian flag brought new friendships our way 🇳🇴 We met fellow Norwegians—including a family living aboard their sailboat—reminding us just how special the sailing community is.
