EP 65: Balancing Your Kitchen - Make a Gimbaled Boat Stove for Induction Cooktop

Have you ever wonder what physics, geometry and levels have to do with a Galley Rebuild.....? Well we just found out as we build a gimbaled box for our new Induction Cooktop. Building the box was relatively easy compared with trying to find the balance point to install the gimbal pin and then figuring out the height to install the gimbal bracket. When you buy a stove a lot of this information is already set and figured out for you. When you do it from scratch, you have to figure it out yourself. Checkout the final stage of our rough galley rebuild. We still need do the finish (painting, butcher block countertop, shelves) work; but we achieve our goal of having a functional galley back on Reverie. We decided to remove propane from the boat except for the grill. So our galley is 100% electric. We install a new Induction Cooktop, new Convection Toaster Oven and bought some new pots/pans for Reverie. One thing to keep in mind with induction cooktops. To make them work efficiently, you have to buy the compatible pots & pans. Meaning your pots and pans have to be induction cooktop ready. We hope you enjoy this episode.
