E76 - A Visit From The Police, Checking into Dampier
After leaving Broome and crossing 80 Mile Beach, we stop at Dolphin Island before sailing down Flying Foam Passage and into Dampier where we officially check into Western Australia. After calling the Police to get our passes scanned, we are told to STAY WHERE YOU ARE and a police lockup patrol wagon is sent to check us in! After finally being cleared in (having actually crossed 3 months prior), we check out the Red Dog Monument, wait an hour for a bus that was never coming, and celebrate with the Dampier Sharks AFL footy team celebrating the seasons final win! We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. #dampier #dampiersharks #seawind1260 #kimberley #circumnavigationaustralia #seawindcats
