E150 - It Must Be Joking! A Friendly, Welcoming and Spectacular Village

Leaving Drueulu we sail to the north of Lifou to the tiny town of Joking. We meet the chief and offer our Coutume (gift exchange as sign of respect) and are welcomed to the community. We grab our snorkels and explore the amazing cliffs with caves and incredible swim throughs, and the colourful coral and fish life. The chief's wife cooks us a traditional dinner and we have some fun returning to our yachts in the dark. The chief's family come aboard and we have an enjoyable day with everyone swimming and water skiing. Not sure if they are brave or CRAZY, but the cliff jumpers amaze us doing flips into the water from 20m high! We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change.
