D.I.Y. canvas work (between cold fronts)

Now that I have some time, it is time to build a new mainsail cover. The old cover has places so badly damaged from UV light that it is not much stronger than tissue paper, and any attempt at sewing patches is futile. The steady march of strong winter cold fronts across the Gulf of Mexico, however, oblige me to take breaks from sewing in order to check mooring lines and hunker down while they pass.
