Boat lifted out of the water for winter on the dock

Our sailboat has not been out of the water for 3 years, so it is time put a new coat of antifoulling on the boat. Since we are going to do that, we will leave the boat on the dock for the entire winterperiod. That way, the hull has the possibility to dry. I've been told that, even good condition hulls, need a drying period every few years....
