Big Sand Cay to Luperon (Ep. 17 Between Sun and Sea)

Explore More! https://www.instagram.com/betweensunandsea & Please SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/betweensunandsea After navigating through the mazes of coral heads in the Caicos Bank and a rough crossing up the Turk's Passage we finally dropped anchor on the leeward side of the remote and desolate island of Big Sand Cay! While exploring the island we found the remains of an old shipwreck and lots of Sand- hence the name! It was as incredible as it was a bit spooky to be the only people on the entire cay, but it did say in our Passage's South book that it was the best place stage for our departure south to the Dominican Republic! Sailing with a solid beam reach all the way to Luperon, we headed in for the season to hunker down in this fabulously protected hurricane hole. Since it is surrounded by mangroves and situated deeper into the interior of the coast, it allows room for many boats to safely ride out the season.
