We were able to make the most of a delivery trip to the Barcelona boat show to test the 4.5, an innovative catamaran which has just strengthened an ever-expanding international market. On trouve d'abord une construction très sérieuse (signée Catana), coques en polyester, espars en aluminium, dérives et leurs puits (classique chez Catana) remplacés par des ailerons rapportés en fond de coque… La finition reste très soignée ; image Catana oblige. L’architecte Xavier Faÿ et le bureau d’études Catana ont opté pour un plan de voilure plutôt généreux, et surtout élancé. Le mât suit la tendance actuelle ; il recule, de façon à préserver une grande surface au solent autovireur. L’option grand-voile à corne permet de gagner 2 m2. Les carènes ? Elles adoptent des sections en demi-cercle pour une surface mouillée minimum.
