BACK TO THE ISLANDS! [Adventure #27]

Finally!!! Our time in the boatyard is nearing it’s end! With work on the bowsprit nearly wrapped up, we just have a few more days left before getting back out on the water sailing again! But first, we need to get Varuna ready to sail again… cleaning her up, reattaching the forestay, putting all the pieces back together and finishing off a few sewing projects. After that, we are free from the harbor and on our way back to the Channel Islands! It’s not all smooth sailing though, with little wind and a barnacle-covered bottom, we stop halfway to give the bottom a good scraping. Upon reaching Santa Cruz, we drop our new Rocna from the new bowsprit for the very first time, and enjoy a night back on the hook. THe next day, more trouble awaits.. This time, engine trouble. Ty squeezes into the locker and works on tightening our alternator belt. It’s definitely an eventful and busy week for us, but we couldn’t be happier to be back out on the water, living on the hook!
