We learnt some lessons from our last (stressful!) trip and this one was a very different experience... First and foremost we set off on time, just before high tide. This meant that we were able to transit both locks in free-flow, which made things very easy. We also decided not to wrap Emma up like a Michelin-Man, strapped into a car seat in a lifejacket. This meant she was much more relaxed and as any parent knows, a happy baby = happy parents! Overall this was a very easy passage. We would have loved to have got the sails out and gone sailing, but that would have meant missing the tide, and in all honesty we are happy to take small, successful baby-steps, rather than take on too much and suffer a mishap before we have even got to know our new boat. "Slow and steady wins the race" as they say... Before we leave Chatham, Chris also gets a tour inside a UK Border Force patrol vessel, which was really interesting.
