After nearly 9 weeks in a Fort Lauderdale boatyard, we're finally putting our Royal Cape 500 catamaran back together after running aground in the Florida Keys. These two months of repairs flies by in just 20 minutes. The damaged rudders are professionally rebuilt, the fiberglass repairs on our sugar scoop are completed, our port Volvo diesel engine returns from a full rebuild, and the boatyard finishes fresh bottom paint before we finally splash back into the water. Along the way, I rebuild our hydraulic steering pump, fabricate a stronger anchor chain hook and bridle, and tackle the smaller projects that always seem to pile up during a major refit. After one of the most difficult chapters of our journey, seeing our catamaran back in the water feels like a huge milestone. If you enjoy sailing, catamarans, cruising, boatyard projects, boat repairs, and following the real ups and downs of life aboard, we'd love to have you along for the journey. 👍 Subscribe for new episodes as we finish rebuilding and head toward the Bahamas! #catamaran #sailing #boatlife #boatrepair #liveaboard #boatyard #cruising #royalcape500
