**60 Days in the Philippines — Searching for a Place to Call Home** It's been two months since I arrived in the Philippines, looking for a place where I might settle down and begin a new chapter of my life. I've spent much of that time exploring Negros Oriental, including Dumaguete, Dauin, and the beautiful island of Siquijor. There are three things about the Philippines that continue to impress me: the extraordinary natural beauty, the warmth and friendliness of the Filipino people, and the affordability of everyday life. From tropical beaches and colorful marine life to small towns and ordinary daily experiences, I'm getting a better feel for what living here might actually be like. At 68, starting over in another country is quite an adventure. I'm not in a hurry to make a permanent decision. For now, I'm enjoying the experience, discovering new places, meeting people, and seeing where this journey takes me.
