56m Alea - a sailing superyacht built by Vitters Shipyard

The 56-metre Alea was designed by Mani Frers and delivered in 2022. Intended for world cruising in indulgent comfort, a reverse bow gives this sailing superyacht a distinctive and dynamic exterior profile. Her long waterline length is paired with a sloop rig sized to Panamax proportions – allowing her to clear the Bridge of the Americas over the Panama Canal. A lifting keel reduces the draft from 6.6m to 3.5m, and this is partnered by twin carbon rudders. Her sail wardrobe includes a 682sqm mainsail and 484sqm blade headsail. Her interior was penned by Milan-based studio ‘M2Atelier’. Open spaces and privacy were paramount, as was a generously-sized owner’s suite and an overall sense of simplicity. Innovative features at the time of her build included retractable V-bollards on deck, V-drums to simplify headsail changes, and a submarine anchor system. A huge lazarette houses an 8-metre tender, with stowage for a smaller model in the foredeck. Video by Guy Fleury
