Highlight of the Day | 2025 49er, FX & Nacra 17 World Championships – Cagliari, Italy 🇮🇹 Day 2 delivered drama, determination, and surprises on the waters of Cagliari! 🌊 In the 49erFX Women’s Skiff, Norway’s Pia Dahl Andersen and Nora Edland stormed into the overall lead — despite Edland battling illness throughout the day. The Norwegian duo now hold a narrow two-point advantage over Spain, with just four points separating the top four teams from Norway, Spain, Australia, and Canada. With 10 nations in the top 10, the racing couldn’t be tighter. Spain’s Paola Barcelo and Maria Cantero impressed with their smooth teamwork, especially as Barcelo takes on the helm for the first time. Guided by legendary coach Xabi Fernandez, they’re keeping the pressure on. Meanwhile, Australia’s Laura Harding and Annie Wilmot closed the day on a high, taking a race win and climbing to third overall. Over in the 49er Men’s fleet, Poland is in pole position — literally. 🇵🇱 Mikolaj Staniul and Jakub Sztorch lead the charge just two points ahead of teammates Dominik Buksak and Adam Glogowski, while Australia’s Jack Ferguson and Jack Hildebrand jumped into third after a strong performance in light winds.
