đ¨đĨ Youth Sailing World Championships | Day 2 Highlights âĩ
Day 2 delivered a dramatic and extreme contrast to yesterdayâs calm conditions, as powerful offshore winds and gusts exceeding 30 knots put the worldâs best youth sailors to the ultimate test. Racing kicked off on schedule, with our livestream bringing viewers straight into the action from the very first start. Todayâs broadcast featured insightful live commentary from special guests Piotr and Luish, guiding us through the challenging conditions on the water. â¸ģ ⥠iQFOiL Men & Women The iQFOiL fleets were the main focus of todayâs livestream, racing in truly brutal conditions. Massive gusts forced some athletes to retire, while others embraced the challenge and delivered outstanding performances. iQFOiL Men completed three races. đŽđą Peleg Rajuan (ISR) kept his cool under pressure, finishing the day with a race win and moving into the overall lead. đŽđš Mattia Saoncella (ITA) followed closely after a strong performance that included a bullet of his own. đ¸đŽ Val Erzen (SLO) claimed the second win of the day and sits third overall. iQFOiL Women completed two races, and it was a day of Italian dominance. đŽđš Medea Falcioni, the 2025 U19 World and European Champion, was unstoppable, taking two bullets to lead the fleet. đēđĻ Taisia Stopchenko posted two second-place finishes, while đšđˇ Nurhayat Guven holds a strong third overall. â¸ģ âĩ ILCA Fleets The ILCA sailors faced the same survival-style conditions. ILCA 6 Boys đŽđš Alessandro Cirinei retains the overall lead through consistency. đ§đˇ Francisco Dal Ri climbed into second overall with two third-place finishes. đ¨đŋ Jiri Tomes completes the top three. ILCA 6 Girls The leaderboard remains incredibly tight. đŠđĒ Mirja Dolhe leads overall, with đĒđ¸ Irene de Tomas and đŽđš Marina Murri tied for second â just two points back, setting up a high-stakes battle going forward. â¸ģ đ Multihulls & Skiffs Offshore winds created survival conditions for the Nacra 15 and 29er Female fleets, with many teams unable to finish. âĸâ â Nacra 15: Only one race was completed, won by đĢđˇ Marius Praud and Emilie Mansouri, extending their overall lead. âĸâ â 29er Female: One brutal race was sailed, claimed by đŦđ§ Lila Edwards and Amelie Hiscocks. âĸâ â 420 Female: đĢđˇ Emy Combet and Juliette Peyre dominated the fleet, winning both races of the day. â¸ģ đŠ Cancellations The extreme conditions sparked intense debate in the Formula Kite areas. Ultimately, racing was cancelled for the day for: âĸâ â Formula Kite âĸâ â 29er Male/Mixed âĸâ â 420 Male/Mixed â¸ģ Overall, Day 2 was defined by power, survival, and exceptional athleticism.
