In 2023, we traveled extensively, beginning with visiting Chile, and returning to Chile at the end of the year, circling the globe halfway. We came to Chile to check our boat in January after pandemic restrictions lifted. Our journey continued through the United States to New York, fulfilling a long-held dream. Reuniting with our kids in Mossel Bay South African, we embraced a semi-work, semi-vacation lifestyle. However, as winter set in, life became uncertain, making me ponder over the imperfections of perfection. Yet, amidst uncertainties, we ran marathons, defied limits, and ultimately decided to resign, planning to resume our delayed global voyage. Prosecutors argue that Jennifer Crumbley failed to take "just ordinary care" to act on her son's violent intentions, which they say made her criminally responsible for the killings. Her husband, James Crumbley, has also been charged and will be tried separately in March. Both parents have pleaded not guilty. The case is at the forefront of a push by some prosecutors to hold parents accountable when their children carry out gun violence. The trial will test the limits of who is responsible for a mass shooting. Ethan Crumbley, 15 at the time, killed four students and wounded seven others at Oxford High School on November 30, 2021. He has pleaded guilty to one count of terrorism causing death and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Nyepi is a Balinese "Day of Silence" that is commemorated every Isakawarsa (Saka new year) according to the Balinese calendar (in 2023, it felt on March 22). It is a Balinese celebration mainly celebrated in Bali, Indonesia. Most Hindu Balinese villages make Ogoh-ogoh, demonic statues made of richly painted bamboo, cloth, tinsel, and styrofoam symbolising negative elements or malevolent spirits or even characters from Hindu mythology. This video shows you the night parade. After the Ogoh-ogoh have been paraded around the village, they are burned in the cemeteries although many are displayed in front of community halls for another month or more.

Tim and Emmie sailed in 2017 on their capacious S/V Shadowfax from Liverpool to Norway's Lofoten Islands picking up hitch-hiking sailing superstars and rescuing stranded German climbers along the way. Once there they skied from sea to summit and back again, climbed prodigious rock faces, cycled, hiked and ate tons of cod.
