The last part of our passage to Mexico was a perfect demonstration of what fighting 25 knots in the Gulf Stream on a 36 foot sail boat feels like . . . Choppy seas form when wind goes against current but sometimes it's just a battle out there and there's no way to avoid it. We knew the end of our offshore journey to Mexico could be uncomfortable because of crossing the Gulf Stream and that's exactly what happened. The earlier part of our trip was beautiful though and you'll see that in the first part of this episode. New sail configurations, light breeze and a calm sea state - These are some of our favorites when offshore sailing. As waves grew steeper on the morning of the third day, we got a visit by dolphins. Then conditions began to deteriorate and it was a wet and choppy ride all the way into Mexico. There is nothing like making landfall though and we are hugely rewarded when we finally dock up safe and sound in our new home. Wir werden am Flughafen von einem TukTuk abgeholt und zu einem Flussboot gebracht, dass uns in einer 1 ½ stündigen Fahrt schließlich in unsere Unterkunft „Naturepark“ bringt. Da auf dem Amazonas immer wieder unendliche Teppiche aus Treibholz schwimmen, bedarf es voller Konzentration und Geschicklichkeit des Bootsführers Slalom fahrend und reaktionsschnell den Außenborder aus dem Wasser nehmend, Boot und Passagiere heil und unverletzt zu transportieren. Wir haben diese 4-Tages all inclusive Tour über einen Kollegen von Bruno gebucht, mit dem wir in der Ciudad Pegida waren. Schon bald stellt sich heraus, dass „Naturepark“ nicht gerade intensiv gebucht ist, von englischsprechendem staff keine Rede sein kann und die Erfahrungen bzgl. All-inclusive-Touren rudimentär sind. Dennoch sind dieser Ort und insbesondere unser pittoreskes Baumhaus von bezaubernder Ursprünglichkeit. Eine mehrstündige Wanderung führt uns durch das Nachbardorf, in dem wohl auch unser guide lebt, sowie durch den unendlichen Dschungel. Mich fasziniert vor allem die solitäre Anordnung diverser Bäume und Pflanzen. Irgendwie hat die Natur einen Hang zur Präsentation möglichst verschiedener Sorten und Arten. Der Dschungel unweit der für uns Touristen angelegter Pfade ist einerseits undurchdringlich, anderseits aber, ordentlich, aufgeräumt. Unser guide ist introvertiert, spricht kein Wort englisch.
