We departed on an overnight passage south from Mazatlán to the spectacular Isla Isabel, arriving just in time for the swell to start rolling in to the questionable anchorage! It took many, many dives to free the chain from boulders, and a near miss with the stern anchor chafing on rocks. We finally got comfortable and are treated to one of the most vibrant sunsets ever, which more than made up for all of the troubles! We head off from our sheltered anchorage at the Enchanted Forest and back into the fray! A bit of beating to get us down to the bottom of the lake is followed by a Gybe putting a string wind onto our backs. We test out the Jib stick for a bit of wing on wing running and see what thats like with the Mizzen in and out. We then head home and do a few circuits, beam reaching to and fro, across the lake. We break our Lugger speed limit which was super exhilarating! The sail around the world continues with a 46 nautical mile passage from English Harbour, Antigua to Deshaies, Guadeloupe. It's a comfortable sail and we make good speed, but we experience some trouble with the main sail and are reminded that I'm the world's worst fisherman. The one that got away! I know so little about Guadeloupe! I'm excited to explore a place in which I have zero expectations or pre conceived notions. See you all tomorrow for a wild one! One of the many skills we practice is retrieving an unconscious person into a dinghy because some day we may need it and will be very happy we figured it out and practiced it.
