If you watched last weeks video you will know that in the last storm, we had damage to the yacht when the bolts on our port side midship cleat sheared off😫. The silver lining to that cloud was that we discovered that the cleat was fixed through the fibreglass with a balsa core at that point in the deck. We decided to fix it properly and this video covers how we cut out an area of fibreglass and balsa below the cleat fixing point and reinforced it with a 12mm solid fibreglass plate. Denver created the plate by laminating about 15 layers of glass and then cut it to size to fit the opening that Colben had created below the cleat fixing points. This was fibreglassed in before the cleat was fixed back in position. We also show how Robin completed the cabin dressing-room holly and teak flooring. We had the basic floor structure when we bought the boat but they are now finished off with the holly and teak overlay and bilge hatch covers in place. It was a bit of a process getting the holly lines on the flooring to line up, using the already completed passage floors as a guide, the dressing room floors and hatch lid lines are all lining up perfectly. We all get frustrated with how long Robin takes with things but this is proof that his constant attention to detail really pays off!👏🏻 It feels so good to finally be working on some of the finishing details on the yacht because it makes us feel like we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
