We are still in Porto Santo and climbing with other Dutch sailors the 2 peaks the “Pico Branco” & “Terra Chã” São João is a festival in Porto Santo, celebrating the summer solstice and the patron Saint John the Baptist. 10 days long live music from local bands on 3 different stages. With a lot of good food and tasty beverages. Then there is the parade. The Marchas Populares. Full of color, brightness and joy, the groups that make up this parade are divided by 4 localities, Camacha, Campo de Baixo, Cidade and Campo de Cima. Every group has their own costumes, singing loud their own song with their own music and dances. Everybody is joining in, young and old. After the parade, we celebrated with a lot of ponchas and fireworks late into the night. Hope you enjoy! In this episode we go through the multi-step full-day process of trying to renew our Indonesian B211A (long-stay) visas in Belitung, then do some more exploring. We explore a big lighthouse in the north of the Belitung islands. Great view from the top. We then say goodbye to Bruno, whose time with the Saoirse crew had come to an end after several months. Finally, we depart Belitung, heading south toward the Sunda Strait, which passes between the main Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra. Thanks for following!
