After we left Beaufort, NC, we cruised north on the ICW through the Bay and Pamlico Rivers to the Pungo River/Alligator River Canal across the Albemarle Sound. From there, we dock for the night at the free docks on the east side of the Great Bridge and Lock in Chesapeake, VA. Once we pass through the lock, we navigate the through the container ships and naval fleet (and a submarine!), past Norfolk to Hampton, VA. We spent a few days in Hampton exploring Fort Monroe and the downtown Hampton area before heading out into Chesapeake Bay.
